Osteoarthritis
Introduction:
Osteoarthritis is age related degeneration problem of joints and associated cartilaginous bones. Almost 80 % of the aged persons above 50 years of the age suffer from osteoarthritis globally. The symptoms include deep pain, reduced range of motion and stiffness. Often the history physical examination and the X rays are needed for the diagnosis. Generally deep heat, exercises and anti inflammatory pain killers are advised for osteoarthritis management.
Ayurveda View:
According to Ayurveda osteoarthritis is a pure vata disorder, Vata is responsible for the movement and it is deranged due to ageing and degeneration of joint and bone tissue take place. The moment gets restricted and the person feels pain and cracking sound on movement.
Treatment:
Pottali sek, Massage, Steam therapy, janu vasti are effective therapies. The oral medications to reduce weight, calcium supplements, vata pacifying drugs and rejuvenators work.

Guggulu, rasona, tinduka,jatuphala, vatsanabh, eranda and many more
Effective home remedies:
- Weight loss is essential, taking aloe vera juice in the dosage of 20 ml twice a day works for weight loss and lubricating the joints.
- Take garlic cloves with water in the morning.
- Dried ginger powder in the dosage of 1gms thrice a day with lukewarm water is recommended.
